  • Leigh Genesis Sonic U14s VS Signol Athletic Ladies U14s Cup Game Match Report 2nd March 2019

So on the 2nd we played Leigh Sonic again, out for some revenge after losing 2-0 to them when we had 8 players .

The game started very fast with Lily M showing her intent straight away, skinning their left back and whipping a cross in for Lily T, but to be fair to Leigh they defended well and also attacked well on the break, always looking to thread the ball through for their tricky strikers, but it was us that made the breakthrough first with a really good cross turned in by Lily M. 1-0 to us but Leigh soon equalised with a brilliant top right corner strike. 1-1 game on with both teams going at it and no one giving an inch.

Lily M broke down the right, beat her player (AGAIN ) and she will tell you it was a shot, but whether a shot or a cross it was a looping effort that nestled  in the net just before half time. 2-1 Signol. HT.

2nd Half. There were great displays all over the pitch to keep Leigh from getting an equaliser, using back-passes to Jada regularly, but I have to agree with Chris and Dan, Bee and Lily M both shone for the whole game. Mads doing well to drop in when Bee drove out of defence.

We saw the match out with our keeper not having much to do second half and when their team gave out our best players number it was Lily M’s number, which was unusual as it’s always Jada. Just goes to show how you can all play as a unit and work hard for each other well done.

Onto the next round well done 👍👏👏⚽️⚽️

Signol Athletic under 14’s girls vs Hindsford match report

So a tricky away game on a bitterly cold day and it proved frustrating. First half, even with only 9 players after Signol missing a hat full of chances, Hindsford were still dangerous on the break and it was them that took the lead and held it until half time.

1-0 HT so after a team talk the girls came out flying and equalised through great work from the girls Lily L finishing 1-1 Game on. We began to pile the pressure on Hindsford and shortly after it was 2-1. Great work and Chaz getting on the score sheet. We relaxed then and the girls were playing some great passing footy and Lily L added her second 3-1 to Signol, but she wasn’t finished there. It’s been a long time coming but Lily L got her 1st hat-trick and well deserved too.

4-1 Game won to be fair with Hindsford getting a late 2nd goal, 4-2 the final score. Great gritty performance in tough conditions.

Have a great Christmas everyone. Reddish Villa next in the New Year.

Signol Athletic under 14’s girls vs Unicorn Athletic Magic Match Report

Today we hosted Unicorns and despite their league standing we knew they had a few really strong girls on their team. With the weather barely holding out the match was on, the only one to be played today in our league. Signol started the stronger having a few early chances, but with the weather changing for the worst it became a bit more scrappy, with mistakes being made all over by both teams with the playing surface but it was Signol that took the lead through Lily T. Great running and a cool finish, the kid’s got ice in her veins in front of goal, 1-0 but then they come back into it with their 3 strong attackers. Their number 11 being very good and it was 1-1 and end to end HT with all to play for in the second half.

Lily T from another good ball through made it 2-1 shortly after the restart. This was end to end and from a very rare mis-kick from the main J they equalised, but our heads did not drop, if anything it annoyed our lot into another gear and from a tight angle Lily T got her hatrick beating the keeper at her near post,  then shortly after Maddie popped up with our 4th and put a bit of daylight between us.

This wasn’t to be the end of the drama as Unicorns got a 3rd which set up a nervy 5 mins, but our girls held out for the win 4-3 and glad to hear the final whistle 🤪

Next up Hindsford away. Do not take them lightly let’s get our last win before Crimbo 👏👏

Signol Athletic under 14’s girls vs Leigh Genesis match report

Leigh Genesis Phoenix under 14’s VS Signol Athletic under 14’s. Right I will hold my hands up on this one, with players missing I was expecting the worst, but the girls proved me wrong!

SO let’s start with Lily L running late due to traffic. We were looking at starting with 10 players which we did, Leigh not dropping theirs.  So 11 vs 10 game on and Leigh starting very well, testing us from the off,  but from Maddie’s through balls Lily T was causing them a lot of problems every time she had a run at them. They did score a couple of goals but Signol did not let their heads drop and playing down hill second half we knew Leigh couldn’t keep the early pace up. Just before half time Soph had a run out from defence and from good work from Chaz to get the ball back to her, Soph threaded a ball through for Lilly T to run onto slotting home.  Well 2-1 HT game on.

Defence pretty much shut them out second half and with our heads up, we equalised from another great ball through and another great run and finish from Lily T. We dipped a bit after that and was possibly settling for a draw, they then were a bit fortunate to get a third goal with a clearance taking a deflection straight to their striker 3-2 but we showed great determination as a collective and Lilly L, through full on determination, got through and equalised in off the post 3-3 WOW. Brilliant today. Good to see the strikers using Jada’s kick as a weapon in attack and the defence standing strong all the way til the final whistle. We dropped to 10 men on 2 other occasions in the match with two injuries and we dug deep and drew with a very fast team. Brilliant from all. Next 2 are winnable. Let’s have it. See you next week. a MASSIVE WELL DONE

  • Signol Ladies Match Report Saturday Reddish North End 2018

Signol Athletic under 14’s girls vs Reddish North End match report

Reddish North End vs Signol Athletic Under 14’s cup game. Going up against a very strong, well organised, 1st division team we started well to be fair, but they were more clinical in front of goal, maybe allowing them a bit too much time on the ball at times they went 2 nil up but wouldn’t say they were amazing but the girls dug deep and from some excellent determination from Bee and great runs into the box from Lily T which maybe distracted their defenders from picking up a sneaky Emma at the back post. Great cross from Bee and a tap in for Emma great goal! Spirits high after that unfortunately we couldn’t hold out til half time and they scored their 3rd 30 seconds before the half time whistle. Second half we were stronger in the tackle and to be fair their 4th was a great strike lost 4-1 but some positives to take into our coming games.

Tough game next Saturday let’s have it 👍

Signol Athletic under 14’s girls vs Richmond Rovers match report

Richmond Rovers U14’s vs Signol Athletic U14 Girls. Right where do I start? We were away to Richmond this week. With their confidence sky high, from 3 wins in a row, they are a very solid, physically bigger team than us. They started strong too, our defence having to fend them off before we got the first goal from a free kick from Mads, which I’ve gotta say was top drawer, let Chaz in for a easy tap in game on. Then they threw everything at our midfield and defence, with one effort possibly needing VAR, thundering off Jada’s bar and not in according to the ref so play on. The girls dug deep but were unlucky to concede an equaliser, as we felt Richmond had tired a bit from their first half showing. The strikers were unlucky hitting their bar and their keeper having to tip one over, shame it wasn’t the first keeper in there as on another day it could of gone in.

Great performance showing grit and determination not to give up right til the end mint girls.

Signol Athletic under 14’s girls vs Tika Taka match report

So today we had 2nd in the league visiting us flying high beating everyone apart from 1st In the league Bury, the girls started a bit nervous going behind to a early error in defence Double L strike force up front came very close to getting an equalizer but Tika Taka followed their first goal with a lucky second goal lobbing Jada from the right side of the box but half way through the half Lily L got what we deserved a vital goal on the counter at which point all the girls sparked into fight mode and battled for every ball and never gave their girls a second on the ball then great work from Chaz set Lily T on her way to score that vital equalizer 2-2 The girls even got a coach full of people joining in the celebrations (quality👍) There were great performances through the full team with vital tackles and a world class save at the end from Jada the things she will do for a McDonald’s 😉 eh and that’s how it ended with great courage to come from 2 goals down to draw with them shows how good you can be. Best team performance by a mile well done to you all

  • Signol Ladies Match Report 27th October

Signol under 14 girls vs Leigh genesis sonic girls match report / signol started the slower of the 2 teams missing 3 key players and the coach Chris Booth, we went 1 -0 down through sloppy defending Soph wasn’t at the races first half 😂 but from a thunderous ball up field LT controlled the ball like she was in the prem rolled off her defender ran through and finished calmly to put us level but just before half time they got lucky with the back line not being level and one of there’s got through to make it 2-1 cue the half time team talk, straight out of the blocks second half the full team was at them quickly levelling up from LT again 2-2 the girls wanted to win this and tackles were flying in our defence had woken up and gave them nothing this half two more breaks step up LL to get 2 goals herself could of been a lot more but 4-2 was the final score all deserving of being on the winning team BOOM 😉
